The Booth Companions of Tokyo Game Show 2008 Tgs08 (via Kotaku) - With Microsoft redesigning their clothes for this year's Tokyo Game Show "booth companions" it seems that a lot of other companies followed suit. My quick walkthrough of the halls netted me images of companions in cosplay, companions with yellow and red eyes and companions in what can only be described as red nighties. NXE Really Does Make Your Xbox Better Experience Xbox (via Kotaku) - There were two main reasons Microsoft decided to totally redo the Xbox 360 interface: 1) to make everything easier to find and 2) making it easier for the Xbox team to make changes to the system on the fly (instead of having to wait for semi-annual updates). After spending a little hands on time with NXE, I’m pretty convinced they’ve succeeded with that first goal (time will tell with the second). Discuss (0) | Login to recommend | 3 months ago

A Video Walkthrough of Tokyo Game Show 2008 Video (via Kotaku) - Pardon the fast-walking and poor focus, this is meant to just give you a quick sense of this year's Tokyo Game Show floor. I did a quick walkththrough of the two big exhibit hall. The third, the one I didn't walk through, is traditionally dedicated to shops and food, oh and the children's area. This is Your Tokyo Game Show 2008 Let's TGS 2008 (via Kotaku) - I just ran through the halls to snap some pictures from the floor of the Tokyo Game Show 2008. This year's event looks like it's shaping up to be a bit more of a spread out affair. The show has 209 exhibitors, 1,786 booths, the highest number to date. They also have a record breaking 879 titles being shown during the event's four days. Discuss (0) | Login to recommend | 3 months ago
LittleBigPlanet: To Wipe, Or Not To Wipe Mass Genocide (via Kotaku) - We've seen some pretty amazing things come out of the LittleBigPlanet beta test so far, including yesterday's amazing calculating sack boy squad. Wouldn't it be a pity to lose all of that goodness in the name of making sure everyone was on level footing for launch? Right now the LittleBigPlanet news site is hosting a poll asking players both in and out of beta whether or not the user created content created so far should be completely flushed down the toilet once the game launches. Vigilante 8 Arcade Launch Trailer Gets Funky Vigilante 8 Arcade (via Kotaku) - As far as I am concerned, the original Vigilante 8 was the sweet spot for vehicular combat on the original PlayStation. Great tunes, excellent battles, and physics that made Twisted Metal look just plain silly. Now we're less than a month away from the launch of Vigilante 8 Arcade, which has all of the above plus online multiplayer. Discuss (0) | Login to recommend | 3 months ago
Sierra Closing 21 Game Servers Sierra (via Kotaku) - Now that Sierra has been swallowed by the maw of Actiblizzard, the great behemoth has spat out a few bones. On November 1st, Sierra will be closing 21 of its game servers, cutting off supports to games such as AvP2, Homeworld and Vampire. None of the games affected are hugely popular, but doubtless someone out there will be a bit put out by this. Discuss (0) | Login to recommend | 3 months ago

Gamers On A Hair Trigger, Claim Evil Wrong-headed Scientists Premature Ejaculation (via Kotaku) - Any girl gamers reading this - move along please, nothing to see here. The BBC is reporting some dramatic new findings in the search for the root cause of premature ejaculation. A possible genetic link has been found that could make some men more prone to the condition. A study of 200 Dutch men found that many who shared a gene linked to low serotonin levels were, shall we say, prone to uncorking their wine before it had properly matured. Here, The Lich King System Requirements World Of Warcraft (via Kotaku) - Blizzard have released the specs sheet for their upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. And, yes, being World of Warcraft, they're nice and low (though they have been upgraded from previous WoW specs, just a pinch). So low that it feels good typing them here, like we jumped in a way-back machine and set the "TIME" dial to "The Good Old Days". Discuss (0) | Login to recommend | 3 months ago

Tetris Party – Old Dogs Can Learn New Tricks Impressions (via Kotaku) - I honestly thought Tetris was one of the few things in the world that would never change. Blocks fall, the music gets faster, and sooner or later, you screw up and put that Z piece where you should have used a T piece. Nostalgia is the lifeblood of the game; so no matter how many evolutions a Nintendo handheld system goes through, I’m always going to re-buy Tetris because it’s Tetris. Cave Story - Everything That's Old Is New Again Impressions (via Kotaku) - Cave Story evokes nostalgia, which is weird, considering that the game is only four years old. The pixilated graphics and action/adventure style of gameplay are supposed to remind you of a simpler time when the only ways to go were left, right, up or down – and you started your quest with just one gun and three hearts.
